William E. "Bill" Kapinski

April 6, 1939

October 12, 2024

On Saturday, October 12, 2024. Son of the late Edward and Irene Kapinski; beloved husband of Carol J. Kapinski; father of William (Lisa) and Kenneth Kapinski; stepfather of Debbie Kocak, Bob (Carol) and Craig (Amy) Placke; grandfather of Lauren, Jake and Eliza; step grandfather of 7; step great-grandfather of 6; brother of the late James Kapinski.

Bill was a wonderful husband to me and a caring man to all. We had an exciting full life, going across country on his Honda Goldwing (his favorite mode of travel), seeing all the beautiful natural sights in the USA. We both loved to ride and did many many miles each summer. That is something I will not forget.

Bill was in the service and loved every minute of it. The navy suited him (except for the sea sickness) and he served 4 years plus 3 as a reserve. His duties on ship was a sonar man and he also served on the helicopter squad. He served on the ship USS Randolph, an aircraft carrier.

We both are lucky to have wonderful supporting and loving families. Also we enjoyed socializing with our friends here (many of them from church) and he liked living in Ohio.

We struggled the past 3 to 4 years with his dementia, but did our best to try to overcome all his problems. The past 2 months he was in Masternick Memorial Care Center, a wonderful nursing home with very caring employees. It was 2 miles from home, so I was able to spend many hours with him each and every day.

I was with him on Oct. 12 @ 3:30am and held him in my arms while he took his last breath.

I wish I could get back some of the days and times we had and would love to get one of his very special hugs he would give me, they were the best………. but I have wonderful memories of him. Memories are something all our own and they cannot be taken away.

I already miss him terribly, but he will be in my thoughts, mind and heart forever. He will be remembered by many.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., where family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 17, 2024, from 3-7pm at 101 Third St., Carnegie. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 18, 2024 at 12:30pm. Burial will follow with full military honors in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
