Dorothy Drensen

Age 93 a lifelong resident of the Carnegie area passed away on Friday June 22, 2018. Born October 13, 1924 in Glendale PA. She was the beloved only child of the late Stanley and Hattie Delemater. Dorothy graduated from Carnegie High School with the class of 1942 and from St. Johns school of nursing in 1945. She earned her BS in nursing education from St. Louis University in 1948. In 1953 she received her MS in educational Psychology from Duquesne University. Dorothy served as director of nursing education at Presbyterian Hospital, Alleghany General Hospital and St. Johns School of Nursing. In 1958 she became "Darling Dorothy" to her late husband Edmund W. Drensen they shared 39 years and many adventures together. They were true soul mates and are now reunited in heaven. Dorothy was "favorite aunt" to her surviving nephew, nieces, great nephews and nieces and great-great-nephews and nieces. We will all miss her. She is also survived by her dear friends in the Scott Township area. Friends and family will be received on Friday from 4-8 pm. at the SZAFRANSKI-EBERLEIN FUNERAL HOME INC. 101 Third St. Carnegie. Mass of Christian Burial in SS. Simon and Jude Church on Saturday at 10 a.m. Interment will be private in St. Ignatius Cemetery. Dorothy's family would like to thank the people at Genesis Bridgeville Rehab and Care center for their care and compassion given to aunt Dorothy during her stay there. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations in Dorothy's memory to the Scott Township Library where she volunteered for many years.
