Age 97, originally from Heidelberg, PA, passed away November 9, 2017, in Hughson, CA. Mary was born on January 15, 1920. She was the daughter of Antoni Hladysz (Austria) and Maryanna Mazurkiewicz (Poland). She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; daughter, Donna; son, James; and ten siblings. Always cheerful, Mary was the happiest spending time with friends and family (locally, in California and in Michigan), especially her children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She loved cooking, baking (maraschino cherry birthday cakes), and anything to do with being a homemaker. Ironing was her favorite and she found painting to be relaxing. After her children were grown, she worked at Saks Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh as a Layette Consultant, helping new mothers prepare for the arrival of their new baby. Mary is survived by her children, Virginia McLain of Turlock, CA, Edward (Norma) Bascovsky of Oakdale, PA, Diane (Michael) Waterman of Oakdale, CA, and Janice (David) Fisher of Oakdale, CA. Mom, we miss you dearly and will always love you. A graveside Memorial Service will be held at St. Ignatius Cemetery, 4090 Swallow Hill Rd., Carnegie, PA 15106, on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of your choice.
